MY ART, MY CULTURE III

EXHIBITION | Betti Ono presents:
MY ART, MY CULTURE III: Women, Media and the Movement
A collaborative exhibition supporting and celebrating women in the Bay Area and around the world.

On view: April 6, 2017 – June 3, 2017
Members Only Preview: Thursday, April 6, 6-9PM
Opening Reception: Friday, April 7, 6-9PM

Initiated in 2013, My Art My Culture began as a one day event dedicated to uplifting the voices of women in art and hip-hop co-presented by Betti Ono, Daughters of Dilla (now The Daughters of D.I.G. Project) and 70×30 featuring Jessica Sabogal and Lexx Valdez. My Art, My Culture returned in 2014, as an all ages exhibition and awards ceremony, honoring noted Bay Area artists and activists Juana Alicia, Yuri Kochiayma, Kilu Nyasha, Amara T. Smith and Lexx Valdez, featuring the West Coast premiere of Tatyana Fazlalizadeh’s nationally acclaimed project ‘Stop Telling Women To Smile’.

After a 2 year hiatus, we are excited to begin our 2017 spring season with a revival of the My Art, My Culture exhibition and program series, on view from Mid-March to May. MAMC III: Women, Media and the Movement will continue the tradition of highlighting woman artists across a spectrum of mediums, from performance to digital media – locally and globally, online and offline.

MAMC III features work from past My Art, My Culture artists and new works from Yetunde Olagbaju and Shana Lancaster. Plus, be sure to save the date for these related programs and events:
