August 6, 2021: Closing Night for Darker Gods at The Lake of Dreams

Join us for the Closing of the Darker Gods at The Lake of Dreams exhibit on Friday, August 6th from 6PM at Betti Ono!

In June, Betti Ono welcomed our community to come and partake in the world that is Darker Gods at The Lake of Dreams. This work by our current, The Fire Next Time: A Call and Response artist in residence, Damon Davis, has opened up so much and invoked deep thought, admiration, and joy. The follow-up to Darker Gods in The Garden of Low Hanging Heavens, The Lake of Dreams is a mythical parable that speaks to aspects of the Black American experience.

The Lake of Dreams, like the previous episode of Darker Gods, is a multimedia experience, encompassing 2d visual art, textiles, film, music, writing, and NFT virtual art, to create a boundless immersive experience. With The Lake of Dreams, Davis will embark on a task previously unexplored. Partnering with Betti Ono Gallery in Oakland, Davis will bring to life the world of the Darker Gods in the physical realm.

Join us for the last look at this exhibit before this chapter is closed. This evening will include music by @shotbyguerrilla, drinks, an outdoor lounge, and an immersive art experience led by Calvin Williams of @wakandadreamlab. This is an all ages event. COVID guidelines will be strictly enforced. Masks are required. The exhibit will be viewed in small groups, for 25-minute segments.
