As a dynamic and evolving agency, The Betti Ono Foundation seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage daily finance operations and responsibilities, while also developing and implementing the organization’s financial business plan to successfully meet strategic current and future goals. The CFO will provide sound recommendations and analyze the organization’s financial activities and direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, to predict future growth. Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the CFO directs the efficient financial management of the Foundation. The CFO will support the CEO, Board of Director & Executive leadership in efforts to ensure long-term financial stability, expand creative capacity, and enhance overall foundation reputation.
A successful Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Real Estate Acquisitions, Community Development Institutions, and managing Program Related Investments (PRI). A strong interest and connection to the Arts, Culture, Social Justice & Community Impact efforts will equip this individual to be able to actively discover new ways to help advance the mission of the Foundation.
The Chief Finance Officer at The Betti Ono Foundation is responsible for:

- Collaborate with Director & CEO to develop and implement institutional strategies and manage oversight of financial performance across the Foundation.
- Develop the institution’s short- and long-term strategies on financial performance.
- Lead the Executive Team in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Oversees Accounting department, budget preparation, grant making, scenario planning and audit functions.
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Compares and implements cooperative business finance models and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Studies long-range economic trends involving Real Estate, Community Land Trust Financing, Social Investments Mechanisms, and projects their impact on the Foundations future growth.
- Oversees investment of funds and works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion.
- Provide and interpret financial information and reports necessary to the Board of Directors, the Finance, Investment and Audit Committee, the Founder & CEO, and other foundation leaders.
- Build and lead financial investment relationships involving Community development institutions, Capital campaigns, public charity efforts and Real Estate.
- Steward risk management through implementation of conservation mindfulness .
- Prepare and review required filings including annual federal and state tax returns, sales and use tax returns, city and state registrations, grant applications, and financial reports.
- Maintain the financial records for donor funds.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting & Business Administration or closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years in Senior Administration and/or Financial Management experience.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and organization skills
- Proficient and up to date knowledge of current database and accounting computer application systems.
- Hands on experience with financial software and applications.
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- Flexibility and respect for Cultural Diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field.
- 8-10 years of Financial Management experience
- Certified Public Accountant

Salary: $85,000/year plus benefits described below.

As a dynamic and evolving agency, The Betti Ono Foundation seeks an experienced writer and strategically skilled professional to join us as a Communications Strategist. In this position, you will play an integral role in drafting and presenting the powerful story of The Betti Ono Foundation and the continued impacts contributed towards advancing the Arts, Culture, Social Justice & Community Impact efforts in Oakland and around the world. The Communications Strategist supports all communication campaigns, branded materials, internal and external communications, newsletters, social media, website updates and more.
The Communications Strategist is a key leader of the Foundation in delivering the Betti Ono brand and communications strategy with a focus to advance organizational priorities on multiple platforms.
A successful Communications Strategist has excellent presentation, communication and public relations skills. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in media relations, strategic communications and scaling audience engagement. A strong interest and connection to the Arts, Culture, Social Justice & Community Impact efforts will equip this individual to be able to successfully represent the mission and values of the Foundation.
The Communications Strategist at The Betti Ono Foundation is responsible for:

- Developing and executing engagement strategies for our active communications campaigns and partnering with key ally organizations to advance aligned strategies.
- Develop and execute digital strategies across departments to advance issues and narratives, support fundraising campaigns, and grow audiences across all platforms.
- Co-create compelling written content for email, social media, and our websites that builds meaningful connections and generates powerful calls to action.
- Cultivate and grow our email lists to advance organizational goals and build powerful relationships online.
- Draft communications for Press Releases, Conferences, Meetings, Social Media and Newsletters and other related communication platforms and tools.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or closely related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience managing Internal & External Communications, Public Relations, Crisis Communications, Event Management, Digital Marketing Strategy, Social Justice.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and organization skills.
- Proficient and up to date knowledge of Digital Marketing Engagement and experience in storytelling campaigns to expand the Foundations reach.
- Expert in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility and respect for Cultural Diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or closely related field.
- 5 years of Communications Management experience
- Strategic Communication Management Professional certification.
