Betti Ono Gallery Continues Commitment to Emerging Artists with Kierra Johnson’s Signify” SIGNIFY, a deeply personal and reflective series of portraits by photographer Kierra Johnson, is the latest exhibition opening at Oakland’s Betti Ono Gallery (1427 Broadway, Oakland). Inspired by cinematic works such as Eve’s Bayou and Soul Food and the lived experience of working class Black people, the portraits in SIGNIFY take visitors on a journey through the American South to California while exploring the body’s ability to hold on to culture. Opening night | May 4, 7-10PM FREE ALL AGES
