CORE: DEBUT SOLO SHOW BY LOSTBOY CLOSING EVENT FEBRUARY 6th

Betti Ono is pleased to present, “CORE” the debut solo show by LOSTBOY on view from December 5, 2014 through February 15, 2015. CORE features a collection of more than 30 works, fragmented into three conceptual levels: the past, the present, and the future, all of which are conveyed with 3 different scales of mixed media paper and large scale installations. The opening night reception will be held Friday, December 5th from 6-9 pm in conjunction with Oakland Art Murmur and First Friday events.

“I have been heavily influenced by: Yayoi Kusama, Yoko Ono, Ruth Asawa, Maya Lin, Antony and the Johnsons, Bjork, Kiki Smith, Louise Bourgeois, caves, waves, cells, sunrise, ancestral memories, daily affirmations, rituals, routines, outspoken Asian American women, art 21, studio visits documented online, Netflix documentaries, tree lines, my collection of rocks, a mentor’s hands, my family, my upbringing, and my dearest of friends from all over who showed me that I am worth it, that we are all worth it.” LOSTBOY is a queer first generation Korean American artist, illustrator, maker, and a proud Aquarius. LOSTBOY creates visceral landscapes using traditional mediums such as paper, pen, and pencil. LOSTBOY considers their line work to touch upon themes such as: identity, connections, affirmations, and the unseen. LOSTBOY received their BFA in Illustration at PNCA in 2010. They have participated in the National Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco as well as “Imagining Time, Gathering Memory: Dia de los Muertos” at SOMArts. LOSTBOY currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
