RSVP HERE

Join us for the Premiere of the Darker Gods at The Lake of Dreams exhibit on Friday, June 18th from 6PM at Betti Ono!

This will be an open event for all supporters of Betti Ono to view the exhibit. This evening will include music by DJ Guerrilla Pump @shotbyguerrilla and an outdoor lounge. COVID guidelines will be strictly enforced. The exhibit will be viewed in small groups, for 25-minute segments. Masks are required, fancy dress is encouraged.

Darker God at The Lake of Dreams is the second episode of the art saga Darker Gods, an ever-expanding narrative experience from post-disciplinary artist Damon Davis. The follow-up to Darker Gods in The Garden of Low Hanging Heavens, The Lake of Dreams is a mythical parable that speaks to aspects of the Black American experience.

The Lake of Dreams, like the previous episode of Darker Gods, is a multimedia experience, encompassing 2d visual art, textiles, film, music, writing, and NFT virtual art, to create a boundless immersive experience. With The Lake of Dreams, Davis will embark on a task previously unexplored. Partnering with Betti Ono Gallery in Oakland, Davis will bring to life the world of the Darker Gods in the physical realm.

This opening comes at a pivotal moment in the Betti Ono journey and closes out the celebration of our 10th anniversary. As we prepare to gather in the space for the first time in over a year, we know that we are not the same people that gathered before. We’ve been changed, hardened, fortified, hurt, healed, and challenged more by both the pandemic and the ongoing unrest in this country and beyond. We invite you to join us as we celebrate all that is blooming, to mourn what is no longer, and envision what is to come in the reflection of The Lake of Dreams.
