Dominique Drakeford
Senior Communications Strategist
Dominique Drakeford is a mother, non-traditional environmental justice educator, published writer, independent researcher, content creator and creative storyteller that has been a leader in reimagining sustainability and social justice for the past 15+ years. Her traditional education tenure includes a BA in Business Environmental Management from the University of California, Riverside (awarded one of UCR’s 40 under 40 for 2022) and a Masters from NYU in Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Fashion.
She has presented lectures, workshops & presentations on decolonizing sustainability at Universities, global brand houses and organizations throughout NYC, California, London and Australia. With features in over 20 publications including Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair she continues to creatively advocate collective re-imagination rooted in liberation.
As a vanguard for collaboration, Drakeford co-founded the community organization, Sustainable Brooklyn and was chief-curator for internationally recognized blog MelaninASS (Melanin And Sustainable Style) while co-producing Conscious Chatter’s THE ROOT: Decolonizing the Sustainable Fashion Agenda revolutionary podcast series. As a sustainable street style maven, she works at the intersection of community development, ancestral homage and hip hop culture to heal our relationship with Earth and inspire community and cultural well-being.
